Granulation of Metals, Alloys and Slags

Important operation cost reductions can be accomplished by the introduction of metal and slag granulation in order to replace the traditional methods of casting and grinding method. During the granulation process with water the liquid metal solidified to uniformly sized granules suitable for raw material handling and further processing or selling.

Coppex supplies complete granulation plants for:

  • Copper and nickel matte and slags
  • Ferronickel , ferrochrome and other alloys.

The Granshot Process (TM)

Through a Cooperation Agreement with UHT we offer plants with the Granshot™ process, the optimal process for metal, matte and alloys granulation.

In the basic concept of Granshot™ process, molten metal is poured into a tundish from which it goes through a nozzle. The liquid metal stream strikes a refractory spray head, splits up and form droplets which fall into a water tank. After fast solidification and settling through the water the grains are transported to a dewatering system.

The granulated product has rounded shapes and is well suited for easy handling and precise dosage for further processes.

The Granujet Process®

Coppex also supplies granulation plants for copper slag, ferro-alloy slag and metal, with the Granujet technology.

The Coppex granulation system use pressurized water as granulation media. The melted slag stream is impacted by water jets generating particles which are cooled in a water pond, transported and separated in a dewatering screen. The granulated material with low water contend can be handled with the usual transport systems for bulk material.

No explotions and no contamination are the main advantages of our granulation systems.
